The Orientalist Dragon Whisky is an 8 year old double wood matured blend. It is blended with whiskies obtained from the top 3 whisky regions in Asia: Japan, Taiwan and India.
This whisky has a deep and warm amber colour. It has a rich and luscious flavour; dried dates, fresh red fruits and a touch of dark chocolate gives it a sensual and indulgent feel. The nose contains notes of vanilla, raisin, apricot, sherry and hints of spice and smoke.
The Orientalist Dragon Whisky is not just another whisky to be kept in a dark closet where it’ll catch cobwebs and dust, it is one that is ready to be enjoyed now. Drink it neat, or in a classic cocktail.

But that’s exactly what we did, searching far and wide for ingredients to create a range of spirits like no other. See, the crafting of spirits hasn’t changed since distilling was invented in 800 A.D. by alchemists in the Orient. So, how do you change something centuries old?
We started by making The Orientalist back where it all began – the Orient (if you hadn’t guessed). And we used the best premium ingredients from the region like cold fermented longan honey mead, Tibetan highland barley and botanicals like Siberian ginseng, Kampot peppercorn, Korean omija berries and Taiwanese gunpowder tea.
Our multi award-winning range now comprise Origins Vodka - the world’s first triple blended vodka, Gunpowder Gin - a contemporary gin that is produced using a blend of traditional and low temperature vacuum distillation methods and techniques as well as the 8YO Dragon Whisky, the world’s first all Asian blended whisky. Finally, we will be introducing the Solera 23 Imperial Rum in 2022.
These heady, intoxicating blends of perfectly balanced spirits are your guide through the exotic and opulent Silk Road. So go on, drink your Orientalist neat or create your favourite cocktails; from the Negroni to Vesper and of course the Orient Express.
All ingredients are sourced directly and ethically.
A long-time owner and operator in food and beverage, venture capital and lifestyle businesses in Asia, Michel was taking some time off at the Hidden Valley eco-resort, 3,300m above sea-level on the Tibetan plateau in mythical magical Shangri-La when he decided that his next challenge would be to develop and present a range of high quality craft spirits hand-made with the best ingredients in Asia. This led to the birth of The Orientalist Spirits.
Michel started his career in marketing and fashion lifestyle, initially in Hong Kong but eventually moving back to Singapore. In particular, he brought the internationally-renowned artiste management company Elite Model Management to Asia, where he collaborated with music legend Malcolm McLaren to create the world’s first Asian girl band and also personally managed super models such as Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Claudia Schiffer in the Asia Pacific region.
He entered the venture capital and technology space when he was appointed Asian director of a New York based tech advisory and venture fund and he now manages privately held Beluga Capital Asia in addition to Revolver Asia. Most recently, he set up Liquid Assets, a beverage company on the cutting edge of global trends that launched The Orientalist Spirits.
Michel was included in the annual “Power List” by Singapore newspaper The Straits Times in 2007, and won the Spirit of Enterprise Award 2010 for “inspiring fellow Singaporeans”. He was also on the judging panel of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurant awards.
